STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I: Purpose
A. To enhance the student-athlete experience academically and athletically by providing an avenue through which the voice of student-athletes may be heard at the local, conference, and national level.B. To provide an opportunity for the student-athlete population to more effectively communicate with the Lafayette College athletic department administration.
C. To encourage and organize the involvement of Lafayette College student-athletes in campus and community projects.
D. To serve as representatives of student-athletes at Lafayette College.
ARTICLE II: Structure
A. Representatives: Each team will select two representatives with the assistance of the head coach. Those two representatives will act as a liaison for that particular team and the issues important to that team.B. Meetings: Meetings will be held once a month during the academic semester. The time and place of the meetings will be determined by the executive board.
C. Elections: Elections for new officers will be held during the second meeting of the Spring semester. Officers will serve a one-year term. An individual can be voted to more than one term if he/she is still eligible and re-elected by the committee. The newly-elected executive board will begin holding meetings with the assistance of the current board members.
D. Executive Board: Consists of a chair, two co-chairs, SAAC advisor, senior woman administrator, faculty athletic representative, and director of athletics.
ARTICLE III: Responsibilities
A. Representatives:
- 1) Attend monthly meetings. In order for attendance to be noted, it is the representative's responsibility to sign in. If unable to attend, he/she must inform the executive board and find a replacement to ensure representation from the team at the meeting.
- 2) Report to teammates and coaches with the issues presented at the meeting. Representatives should discuss these issues with their team.
- 3) Participation is necessary in order for the committee to be effective.
- 4) Outgoing senior representatives should bring their appointed replacements with them to the spring meetings.
- 5) Become informed and educated about various issues relevant to Lafayette College and the Patriot League.
- 1) Prepare for general SAAC committee meetings in advance.
- 2) Attend Patriot League SAAC events and act as a liaison between the league and the campus.
- 3) Present NCAA legislation to campus SAAC and report to Patriot League Representative.
- 4) Coordinate volunteer activities and increase involvement with the surrounding Lafayette College community.
- 5) Plan events such as Student-Athlete Appreciation Day, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and other relevant events.
- 6) Record meeting minutes and present them to SAAC representatives.
