Lafayette Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 12 Army, 13-5
March 30, 2004 EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -The Lafayette men's lacrosse team fell to No. 12 Army, 13-5, in Patriot League action on Tuesday evening at Rappolt Field. Army opened up scoring on a John Walker goal with 13:41 on the clock. The Black Knights Jake Couch then added two more to put Army ahead 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. Lafayette's Andrew Forbes attempted a comeback, scoring two unanswered goals in the second quarter, sending the Leopards to halftime down one. Army came back from the break and exploded with eight goals in the third period. John Walker scored his second of the day at 13:54 and added another at 12:20. Marko Kostovic tallied two goals of his own, while Couch completed his hat trick at 4:55.
Bart Seifert tallied his eighth goal of the season for the Leopards with 58 seconds remaining in the third.
The Black Knights proved to be too much for Lafayette, scoring two more insurance goals in the fourth before the Leopards' Leo Stinson found the back of the net at 2:38 off an assist from Drew Weisman. Lafayette's Matt Lukof tallied one last goal with 58 seconds on the clock to end the game. Michael Koch had fifteen saves in the net for the Leopards. Chris Rosa (two saves) and Kevin DeVito also saw time in goal for Lafayette. The Black Knights Matt Darak and Eddie Clark combined in the net to make 12 stops for Army. Lafayette (1-8, 0-3) will be back in action on Saturday, April 3, as they travel to Colgate to take on the Raiders in Patriot League play at 1 p.m. |
